 Objectives of additional activities in SWARE

 The additional call’s overall objective is to exchange experiences and good practices regarding the management of Waterway Regions in relation to the COVID-19 impacts and/or the restrictive measurements as well as implement these lessons learnt within the impacted Policy Instruments. The planned additional activities of the SWARE project build onto the already established lessons learnt and explore these further, where related to the impact of COVID-19. It enriches regional policy instruments with interregional knowledge, and will look at parallel European movements such as the Green Deal for further improvements.

SWARE additional activities:

ANALYSIS

  • Identification of good practices (GP) per partner region;
  • Updating the SWARE GP database;

KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE

  • Organisation of online/digital workshop based on GP;
  • Organisation of physical workshop based on GP;

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Organisation of SIG meetings

PROJECT OUTPUTS

The following outputs have been planned in the SWARE additional call, to be delivered by the partnership during the implementation of the project:

  • (at least) 4 – Good practices identified during the first semester / 1 GP per   partner
  • 8 SIG meetings (2 per partner region)
  • 2 online Steering Group Meetings;
  • 3 online Thematic Working Group Meetings
  • 1 online workshop/exchange event;
  • 1 physical exchange event.

What is SWARE?

A project in the Interreg Europe 2014-2020 programme, which improves synergy between culture and nature heritage protection and sustainable development in inland waterway regions. The growing number of visitors to inland waterway regions causes tensions with heritage conservation. The main objective of the SWARE project is to foster integrated management of natural and cultural heritage within inland waterway regions by improving the partner regions’ related policy instruments in order to create a better balance between the protection and sustainable exploitation of the natural resources and the built heritage sites.
